2008 Flu Vaccine Composition
The WHO has recommended that vaccines to be used in the 2008 season (southern hemisphere winter) contain the following:

— an A/Solomon Islands/3/2006 (H1N1)-like virus;
— an A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2)-like virus;
— a B/Florida/4/2006-like virus.

Details can be found on the WHO web site.

Workplace vaccination
On-site workplace vaccination is by far the most cost-effective and trouble-free way to reduce the business costs of influenza. It’s also a great way to support your staff’s wellbeing.

Reducing absenteeism through an immunisation program will produce real cost reductions. Independent studies show a net financial benefit to employers who offer workplace flu vaccination.

Vaccinations against other illnesses, such as hepatitis and tetanus, can be an important occupational health and safety issue and can be performed either separately or at the same time as influenza vaccinations.

ProVax is fully insured and our registered nurses hold current immunisation certificates, as required by health authorities.
With experienced medical, nursing and administrative staff, ProVax is the vaccination provider of choice for many organisations. We make it a priority to understand your needs and deliver an inexpensive, timely and efficient service.

Employee health assessments
Many organisations now offer health assessments to employees as part of their workplace health and wellbeing program.

Health assessments can aid the early diagnosis of certain medical conditions and help employers tailor health and wellbeing initiatives to the needs of their staff.

ProVax’s on-site health assessments consist of 15 minute, one-on-one consultations with a registered nurse.

Our nurse will:

  • measure body mass index,
  • measure blood sugar,
  • measure blood pressure
  • measure cholesterol
  • and ask some general health and lifestyle questions.

Basic health advice will be provided where necessary.

Our online booking system will help to keep your health assessment program running smoothly from start to finish.

Pandemic preparedness
The World Health Organisation says that the world is closer to an influenza pandemic than at any time since 1968.
Health experts fear that a lethal strain of the influenza A virus could acquire the ability to spread easily from one human to another, causing widespread illness and mortality, with large-scale economic and social disruption in many countries.

During a pandemic, businesses face absenteeism of up to 50%, reduced customer demand, disruptions to supplies and essential services.
ProVax offers a range of services to help your business prepare for pandemic influenza and minimise the risk to your staff, including:

  • Up-to-date influenza pandemic information
  • Assistance for businesses wishing to develop a pandemic plan
  • A range of personal protective and hygiene equipment for businesses to purchase
  • Customised web-based reporting systems to facilitate management of employees during a pandemic
  • Antiviral stockpiling services
